F-Terms
F-terms: (main carriage unpaid)
FCA (Free Carrier - named place):
The seller fulfills his obligation to deliver when he has handed over the goods, cleared for export, into the charge of the carrier named by the buyer and at the named place or point.
The seller bears all risks until the goods are delivered to the carrier. All other risks are borne by the buyer. So in the price paid by the buyer to the seller are included:
FAS (Free Alongside Ship - named port of shipment):
The seller fulfills his obligation to deliver when the goods have been placed alongside the vessel on the quay or in lighters at the named port of shipment.
The buyer bears all risks from the moment the goods have been placed alongside the vessel. So in the price paid by the buyer to the seller are included:
FOB (Free On Board - named port of shipment):
The seller fulfills his obligation to deliver when the goods have passed the ships rail at the named port of shipment.
The buyer bears all risks of damage or loss to the goods from that point. So in the price paid by the buyer to the seller are included:
FOB Airport:
FOB Airport is based on the same principle as the ordinary FOB term. The seller's obligations include delivering the goods to the air carrier at the airport of departure. The risk of loss of or damage to the goods is transferred from the seller to the buyer when the goods have been so delivered.
